Overview
Yes, there is climbing in Kansas. With Kansas climbing, you are not going to thrilled to death with it but it does exist. Most of it is found around Salina, but some odd shaped outcrops coexist with masses of cornfields throughout the state. Most Kansas climbers focus on indoor climbing or bouldering but Rock City and Mushroom Rock are worth checking out if you are passing through the state or find yourself near these small boulders.
If you need some small training areas you can find a mix between indoor climbing and some bouldering. There is not a lot of hard grade problems in the state, but you can mine out some hard eliminate variations of climbs and keep yourself busy with that. Some minor top roping can be done as well.
